Today I was working the evening shift so I tried once more to sleep in. At seven it was an unbearable 32 degrees in the tent so I got up, got dressed, and moved over to our resting tent with the beds. Dozed off for some time but it was still really hot so I went for breakfast with Fredrik instead. Met our British ISTs there so we sat together and it was quite sad. They don’t have a choice, tomorrow they are leaving. Currently, it’s the UK, the US, and Singapore that are leaving. Other large contingents have stated that they are staying.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Buses with AC that you just can get into for protection from the sun<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Me and Fredrik stopped at the convenience store on the way back to buy ice packs and drinks. I poured it into my isolated bottle and it works like a charm. Drinks get cool quite quickly and it stays that way. I’ll probably buy more of those in the coming days.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When we got back to our Subcamp, we got the delightful news that our team leads had decided to stay. Hooray! They didn’t want to leave us others hanging and it would have been really difficult without them. So difficult that I might have defected (and I do see myself as a quite loyal person). Luckily, we don’t have to find out.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I and a Dutch guy called Erik were asked to step in as deputies as the UK ISTs were supposed to do that. This is to give our team leads the possibility to get a day off. We had our first practice run during the afternoon food delivery and it went okay. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the evening we recruited Jonathan, Martin’s friend who is a cook in the Swedish Navy, to cook dinner for the whole team. One last meal with everyone before the Britts are leaving tomorrow. We got chicken taco with some spices. We could have used some more but it tasted delicious and everyone was satisfied. Our Deputy Subcamp Chief said a few nice words about this being a superb team and we gave each other applause. It’s sad to see them leave, not just because of the lack of workforce, but because they are nice people who really should be allowed to stay on-site and enjoy the Jamboree they have prepared for. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
