After yesterday’s post, a guy named Sven posted about needing Swedish patches (cause his shirt was missing them). Since I have a bunch of extra we met in the dining hall together with two of his colleagues and had a nice dinner. We told each other about our respective work, and they were responsible for the Charlie Basecamp. They already had a bunch of stories
A day off means sleep in! Woke up about 9:30 and did some laundry. Realized that I’ve been here for seven days already, and that was shown in the laundry bag. Hang the clothes, and then Per-Martin and I went for a stroll around the campsite. Went from Echo, through Delta, up to World Point, across the big iconic bridge, and off to Bravo and then Alpha. On our way back, we split up, and I headed to Charlie, looking for Sven, but couldn’t find him. I went into the medical tent in C to check out my finger, which had gotten a bit swollen, and the doctor told me it’s an ingrown nail. Instructions on how to clip my nails and then a note on some antibiotic paste I should apply twice a day.
Stopped by our office on the way back to get an update on how they were doing, and then back to Echo. Dinner with Johanna, Lars, and Calle. Really nice talking to a couple of Swedes.
Landed in Chat N’ Chew to charge my laptop and write this post, but an American sat down beside me and we started talking about, like, everything. Scouting, politics, vacation, third world countries. He had stories, I shared a couple myself, and we had a great chat for over an hour. We traded patches, connected on Novus, shook hands, and then parted ways. Maybe I’ll see him again, probably not.
Tomorrow is the Cultural Celebration Day, when all troops will cook or create something unique from their home country. Everyone just moves around through the camps and shares different cultural experiences. In the evening, it’s an arena show called Unity. Once again, everyone gathers in the AT&T Stadium, roughly 45,000 scouts. Amazing!
