Woke from the alarm at 7:30 this morning, the best sleep I’ve had on the trip, which could be because of yesterday’s intensive schedule. My tent-mate, Henrik, said that “half of India” was in line for the showers, so I decided to skip the shower and we headed for breakfast and then took a walk to work. A bit unclear on how the help desk should be set up and who had the responsibility for the computer lab, but we got it sorted out in the end. My crew-leader, Jack, has been working too much, so after lunch he took a well-needed day off.

I spent basically the whole day in our computer lab, just leaving the tent now and then for a quick errand to the help desk or our trailer. When my shift ended, I stayed to finish more of these ambassador profiles. Some new came in yesterday. A couple of my colleagues and my team lead tried to make me leave, and maybe I should have, but I felt fine and didn’t want to leave this stuff unfinished. Just another long day at the computer. It will be better in the upcoming days when all the ambassadors are settled and we have our routines going.

I had one final task, updating the list of participating countries, but it got a bit tedious, so I (or someone else) will do that tomorrow. You can find the list and from there find the different ambassadors and their posts: https://www.2019wsj.org/ambassadors/

I’ve just read a couple, but I felt happy for how excited they are about just being here.

I left our trailer, walked back with some music in my ears, and was just enjoying the, for the moment, perfect weather. I got back to my tent, where I found my lanyard with the Novus device, my wristband, and my ID card. Realized earlier today that they were missing it when I was cleaning my eye wound. More and more people or noticing the black I’ve gotten. Katri can’t stop laughing when she sees me. My team lead, Joe, goes with the story that he hit me because I was late for a shift 🙂 . Someone suggested bar-fight, but I don’t think that will fly with my friends (probably not the late-to-shift part either).

Now sitting in the Chat N’ Chew waiting for the queue for dinner to get a bit shorter and catching up on these posts. We’ll see if the evening entails anything interesting. First dinner. I’m off tomorrow (see if I can keep away from our office…), so I think washing and exploring are on the schedule.
