The alarm went off at 7. Just get up and head to the showers. Cloudy in the morning, so it was quite comfortable, for like 20 minutes. Off to breakfast, where the line was like 500m long! Since I had to be at a meeting and take a bus there, I got a bit stressed out, but big kudos to the food staff, it only took 15 minutes until we started to collect the food.
Quickly eating and then off to collect the lunch, and finally head to the bus. Lots of people in line at the bus depot, fortunately, not so many in the queue for my bus.
The meeting was set to begin at 8:30, but probably because of the queue for breakfast and buses, it didn’t start until 9:15.
Ed Lynes, lead for Connected Experience where our group is a part of, held an enthusiastic speech about how great our department is, how we, in one way or another, will affect each and every one of the participants during these days.
Afterwards, we gathered in our Global Ambassadors team, said hello, introduced ourselves, did some teambuilding, presentation of the different groups, and discussed what we aim to achieve.
Break for lunch and then work in the groups. My group is the technology group, and except for me, there are Jack, the lead, Katri from Finland, Brenden from the USA, and Kawan, who, because of travel issues, arrived late. Spent the rest of the afternoon publishing more profile information about our ambassadors. HTML, WordPress, and links. I really miss my four screens, full keyboard, and a decent chair
Done around 18 and off to the Echo Basecamp for dinner. We filled the bus at my stop just to find another 30 at the next stop. The drivers don’t seem to be too keen (or allowed?) to drive with people standing in the buses. There was some discussion, and we filled the bus with standing passengers anyway. It goes really slow anyway, so the risk should be minimal.
The flow for choosing dinner is quite chaotic; there is a beginning of a system and order, but just before the food itself, it crashes. Got some food and headed off for the Chat N’ Chew, which is sort of the IST café/gathering place. Found a couple of guys from a team under the same department whom I chatted with yesterday, so sat down and taught them the card game Gurka. I should stop doing this cause I just keep losing
Around 22, it was time for a shower and then bed. Still hot but manageable. Warning of thunderstorms tomorrow, we’ll see how that affects us.
