Laundry, shopping, short visit to the park

Didn’t set an alarm for this morning. The plan was to do laundry and then see what happens. So when I woke up, I made my way two floors down to the guest laundry room. I loaded the machine, put in the detergent, and just realized that the machine was broken. Managed to pull out the detergent drawer so I could put it in the machine next over instead. Quite quick, just 30 minutes.

I went down to the restaurant to get some breakfast. I ordered an egg and ham sandwich, but they didn’t have one ready, so they would make one. After 15 minutes, I left. My pesto pasta was quicker two nights ago, and I had to get back to the laundry. I felt a bit bad, but since you pay at a cashier when you have the food in your hands, there were no consequences for me, and they can keep it warm for the next guest.

Swapped to the dryer. The payment terminals on these machines are really slow, so slow that I thought it had frozen, so I managed to cancel the payment. The second try went better. Another half an hour, and after dropping it off in the room, I jumped on a bus to the parks to find some lunch. Ended up at Mel’s Drive-In having a burger and a strawberry shake.

Took it really slow and since I only expected to be here a couple of hours, I had left the backpack at the hotel, no need for lockers! I went for two rides on Escape from Gringotts and then just hung around the Harry Potter area. Lots of happy people in robes with wands.

Stumbled upon the Beat Builders, who had a show playing music with tools and barrels. I found out that there was going to be a meet-and-greet, so I waited, hoping it to be Minions, but it was characters from Sing, so I bailed. I left the park at 13:45.

When I got back to the room, I took a power nap, really nice! Even snoozed once 🙂 I went out to find a T-shirt that I could use while swimming. Some quick searches on Google showed that Dick’s Sporting Goods might have some, and there was one just 15 minutes away by car. Found two shirts and then drove back to the hotel.

Lots of traffic lights, probably not as low as they felt

When I got back, there was more drama outside my window; this time, it was the police who seemed to have apprehended someone, not sure why it needed four cars though. Handy to have a pair of binoculars!

Since I’m leaving tomorrow, I started to pack my bags to see that everything still fits and I clear the weight limits. Got some panic when the new clothes I’ve bought brought the bag over the limit. I moved stuff over to my backpack, but there wasn’t really room. Didn’t look forward to traveling with a pullover and rain jacket on me in this heat. However, when I read up on the JetBlue rules for cargo, it said I could bring a personal item that was a bit larger than I expected, so I could take my daypack and put some stuff in there. I chatted with them to confirm, but all problems were solved until the next flight in a couple of weeks. But that’s a problem for another time!

All in all, a really slow day, resting my feet and preparing for tomorrow when I fly to San Juan, Puerto Rico.
