We got up around 8, and after verifying that the game United-Chelsea was on the television, we went downstairs to fetch some breakfast. Glorious victory over the blue made this a terrific start to the day. Left the hotel to go to Santa Monica, but the subway had closed two sections, so we had to start with a 25-minute walk (could have gone with buses, but it seemed a bit messy).
The subway took about 40 minutes to get to Downtown Santa Monica, and we walked down to the beach and the pier. The pier itself was quite commercialized (didn’t expect anything else), but it’s nice to have been there. We got down to the beach and went for a swim. Didn’t wanna leave our stuff unsupervised, so we took turns, twice each actually. Much nicer than Santa Barbara and better waves
Found a bathroom to change back into clothes and then off for a lunch hunt. Found this restaurant that looked nice and ordered a cured salmon each. We didn’t really get that it was only an appetizer until we got the plates. A few months ago, we were in Zürich and had the most expensive lunch ever (for us). Today, that got beat. $85 for two appetizers, some bread, a glass of wine, a beer, and a Coke.
Headed back into Los Angeles by subway but got off at another stop and boarded a bus that took us all the way back to the hotel, where we both went for an afternoon nap. Got up for a quick shower before heading out again for dinner. A restaurant that seemed to belong to Sheraton delivered a nice steak in a rather short amount of time, which was good since we were going to the soccer game. Just in time for the bus, which landed us just outside Banc of California Stadium, home of the Los Angeles Football Club.
At the third sports event on this trip, I finally got my singing section. They seemed inspired by Mexico or South America, and they sang through the warmup, the whole game, and even after. The quality of the soccer wasn’t that good, even if it was Western Conference #1 and Eastern Conference #5. Didn’t help that we had begun the day with a top match in the Premier League. But we got to see six goals, and overall it was a nice experience.
After the game, we got back to the hotel for some sleep, trying to get rid of the cold. Tomorrow we go our separate ways, where dad will find some record shops and other “music-related stuff” and I’ll go to Universal Studios. Woop woop!
